Welcoming a new puppy or kitten to your family is an exciting time but there is a lot to think about! Our initial consultation with new puppies and kittens lasts 45 minutes to give us plenty of opportunity to discuss any questions you may have and make the experience as positive as possible for you and your new pet. The consultation being in your home takes away the risk of your new pet meeting unvaccinated animals at a veterinary practice and makes the visit less stressful for all involved.
We recommend vaccination schedules which meet the WSAVA vaccination guidelines, as well as taking into account the license of the relevant vaccines. For cats we use non-adjuvanted vaccinations which reduces the risk of injection-site reactions. We recommend a final vaccination at 16 weeks of age for dogs and cats, and to ensure full cover, a blood test to make sure that your pet has responded as expected.
Puppies are at particular risk for developing kennel cough as their immune systems are immature and they are likely to be mixing with lots of other dogs at training classes.
